The DMYC is offered in addition to regular classes and our annual recital as an opportunity for dancers to create, learn, and perform in a more concert-like atmosphere. Classes are designed to build upon technique and learn choreography for an end-of-the-year recital, while DMYC rehearsals focus on learning and creating choreography to be performed throughout the season or beyond as pieces are added to the company repertoire. We take a more artistic and educational approach to dance training and love the level of confidence it allows our students to achieve.

DMYC dancers are curious, creative, and committed to exploring dance as an art form and sharing it with others through performance. Many of our dancers have pursued and are accepted to programs beyond our studio, including the SC Governor’s School and professional dance intensives throughout the US and several college programs such as the Tisch School of the Arts, The College of Charleston Dance Department, and The Anderson College Dance Department.

Erin Kerr, Daughter Grace (Age 13)
Dance Moves Youth Company has played a tremendous role in the shaping of my teenage daughter during pivotal developmental years. Not only has she grown stronger as a dancer, but this team of young women and instructors have become family. They push each other to try harder, are quick to laugh and slow to judge, they show up for practices and performances and even carve out time for fun. Youth Company has taught my daughter the importance of self expression and self care. As a parent, I also love the emphasis placed on teamwork and artform over competition titles and lost family time. I recommend this to all dancers and am ever grateful for this community of well-rounded individivuals.
